It's not always easy to stay motivated in class, especially in such a special context where almost all teaching is done by distance learning. Covid-19, restrictive measures and winter are the fatal combo of the moment, demoralizing and demotivating most of you. EdLive gives you tips on how to stay positive and motivated.

  • Keeping the pace:

Establishing a precise schedule for your day or your week will help you to avoid wasting time and work efficiently. Don't overload your days and try to find a fixed work rhythm, working from 9am-4pm for example. And don't forget to take real breaks. There's no point in working non-stop all day: it's important to keep your mind fresh and motivated.

  • Taking your mind off things:

If you don't want to get depressed, it's important to give yourself breaks during the working day, as well as real moments of relaxation in the evening. Make sure you save your weekends too, and don't touch your courses during this period. And don't put pressure on yourself! There may be days when you feel unmotivated, but don't worry, your motivation will undoubtedly be back the next day, so take the day off to relax and take your mind off things.

  • Setting goals:

Create a list of achievable goals, so you can keep track of your progress and stay motivated. If it helps, treat yourself to a treat for every goal you reach, to give you extra motivation to reach those goals.

  • Surround yourself :

Isolation and a feeling of loneliness are two factors that have a strong impact on morale and motivation. To avoid this feeling, don't hesitate to set up video-conferencing work sessions with classmates. However, try to limit these work sessions to a maximum of three or four people so as not to lose your concentration. You can also create group conversations, via social networks, to support and help each other. Don't hesitate to let us know if you're having trouble - you're probably not the only one, and others may have tips to help you.

  • Exercise:

Physical activity is important. Sport doesn't just improve your physique, it also oxygenates your brain, making it more efficient. Go out for a run, turn up the music and dance, take an online sports course... Choose what suits you best, but above all, don't be afraid to exert yourself. • Organize a special space dedicated to work:

It's important to keep your workplace and your home separate. If possible, try to find a small corner of your home dedicated solely to work. If you don't have enough space, set up in the most work-friendly place you have, and make sure you put all your things away every evening. This will enable you to make a real break between your work and your personal life. As far as possible, avoid working in your bedroom, which should remain a place of relaxation and rest.
